The History Behind Our Non-Profit Mission

A USAF veteran, our founder had never confronted homelessness until returning to Riverside, California. In 2005, living with an aunt near UC Riverside, it was not immediately clear that many people carrying backpacks were not students until becoming part of that community the following year. For four years, half of a modest Social Security income went toward renting single rooms from various individuals, creating a constant cycle of instability.

    A Divine Calling

Stability finally came through Hope Again, a Hollywood-based organization. During his 24-month residency at Hope Again, divine inspiration revealed a natural gift for landscaping that had been present since childhood. This marked the beginning of a second calling. Under the guidance of Mrs. Carol Clark, director of Hope Again and manager of a classic Hollywood apartment building in significant disrepair, the founder began restoring the property's neglected landscape. Within six months, the building regained much of its original character and charm. Through that work, it became clear that this ability was not new at all but rooted in a passion for gardening that started at the age of five.
